{"id":15116904,"date":"2026-05-22T22:44:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-23T02:44:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inthacity.com\/news\/netflix-removes-cancelled-sci-fi-series-with-star-studded-cast\/"},"modified":"2026-05-22T23:00:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-23T03:00:52","slug":"netflix-removes-cancelled-sci-fi-series-with-star-studded-cast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inthacity.com\/news\/netflix-removes-cancelled-sci-fi-series-with-star-studded-cast\/","title":{"rendered":"Netflix Removes Cancelled Sci-Fi Series With Star-Studded Cast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Netflix<\/strong> is the latest network to drop the science fiction series <em>Moonhaven, <\/em>three years after the <strong>AMC <\/strong>show had its renewal reversed and was cancelled after just one season by the latter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/press.amcglobalmedia.com\/amc-plus\/press-releases\/new-series-greenlit-for-amc-and-amc-moonhaven\/\">Per its official logline<\/a>, <em>Moonhaven, <\/em>which premiered in July 2022, &#8220;focuses on Bella Sway, a lunar cargo pilot and smuggler 100 years in the future who finds herself accused of a crime and marooned on Moonhaven, a utopian community set on a 500 square mile Garden of Eden built on the Moon to find solutions to the problems that will soon end civilization on Mother Earth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A skeptic in Paradise, Bella is sucked into a conspiracy to gain control of the artificial intelligence responsible for Moonhaven\u2019s miracles and teams with a local detective to stop the forces that want to destroy Earth\u2019s last hope before they are destroyed themselves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Created by <strong>Peter Ocko<\/strong> (<em>Black Sails, Elementary, Pushing Daisies<\/em>),\u00a0the short-lived sci-fi was led by <strong>Emma McDonald <\/strong>(<em>The Serpent Queen, Death in Paradise<\/em>) as Bella Sway, along with <strong>Dominic Monaghan<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Lost, Lord of the Rings <\/em>trilogy) as Detective Paul Serno. <\/p>\n<p>Among the supporting cast are <strong>Amara Karan <\/strong>(<em>Stan Lee&#8217;s Lucky Man, The Twilight Zone<\/em>), Ayelet Zurer\u00a0(<em>Daredevil<\/em>, <em>Daredevil: Born Again<\/em>), <strong>Kadeem Hardison<\/strong> (<em>The Cosby Show, A Different World<\/em>), and <strong>Joe Mangiello <\/strong>(<em>True Blood, Magic Mike<\/em>). <\/p>\n<p><em>Moonhaven <\/em>received mainly positive reviews from critics and a promising viewer retention scale, leading to the series being renewed for a second season. However, budget cuts at the AMC network led to its renewal being reversed and the show ultimately being cancelled after just 6 episodes. <\/p>\n<p><em>Moonhaven<\/em> was later adopted by Netflix in December 2025, helping the show gain a new audience outside of the indie network.
