Netflix has officially announced the cast of Dept. Q<\/em>‘s second season, following the beloved thriller series’ renewal last year.<\/p>\n

The first season of Dept. Q<\/em> landed on Netflix in May 2025 to strong reviews, quickly becoming one of the streaming platform’s biggest success stories. Just a few months later, Netflix confirmed that it would be returning\u2014with several exciting names joining the cast. Almost a year later, Netflix has finally confirmed those additions.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the biggest new name in Dept. Q<\/em>‘s credits is Greg Wise<\/strong>, who is best known for playing Lord Louis Mountbatten in the first two seasons of Netflix’s The Crown<\/em>. He is also married to Academy Award-winning actress, Emma Thompson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He will be joined in Dept. Q<\/em> by Aisling Franciosi<\/strong> and Nicholas Rowe<\/strong>, who recently appeared in Speak No Evil<\/em> and Red Eye<\/em> season two, respectively. They will play the characters of Kimmie and Thomas Fulton, whose roles in the story have not yet been disclosed.<\/p>\n

For those who haven’t already devoured the first season of Netflix’s hit drama, Dept. Q<\/em> follows a detective returning to work after a traumatic incident that left his partner paralyzed and another officer dead. As he struggles to carry the burden of his past, a new case piques his interest.<\/p>\n

The show received rave reviews from critics and currently sits at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, with an even higher audience score of 90%. The show dominated Netflix’s viewership charts for several weeks and remains one of the most-viewed shows of 2025.<\/p>\n

Tony Curran<\/strong>, Hamish Clark, Alex Ferns, Rebecca Root, Isla Johnston, <\/strong>and Amy Brenneman<\/strong> round of the show’s new additions. Netflix has also confirmed that Matthew Goode, Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne, Jamie Sives, Mark Bonnar, Kate Dickie, Aaron McVeigh, <\/strong>and Sanjeev Kohli<\/strong> will all reprise their roles from the first season.<\/p>\n

Production is currently underway in Edinburgh, Scotland for Dept. Q<\/em>‘s second season, with filming expected to wrap up within the coming weeks and post-production expected to finish around December. The season does not currently have an official release date. <\/p>\n
