A Starbucks in Boston’s South Station has been ordered to close after health inspectors confirmed a rodent infestation.<\/p>\n
Amid the foot traffic and shops sits a recently-shuttered Starbucks. Our camera captured footage of a rodent inside Friday evening.<\/p>\n
Boston Inspectional Services says it found rodent droppings throughout the store, along with “multiple violations of the Massachusetts Sanitary Code and the FDA Food Code.”<\/p>\n
The city suspended the store’s food permit and ordered the business to stop food operations immediately.<\/p>\n
“It’s pretty terrifying, because if that was happening at any of these other restaurants, I would never know, and I would be eating that food and not thinking twice about it,” said one person at South Station.<\/p>\n
“There’s a lot of rats in the city, but you hope you can keep them out of a Starbucks,” another added.<\/p>\n
Officials say the store must deep clean and sanitize the entire store, hire a licensed pest control company, throw away any contaminated food and correct all health code violations before it can reopen.<\/p>\n
