The number of\u00a0Michigan residents suffering from cyclosporiasis continues to rise.\u00a0\u00a0State officials say more than 10,000 cases have been reported in\u00a0Michigan as of\u00a0Tuesday.\u00a0\u00a0The parasite\u00a0can cause\u00a0gastric distress,\u00a0including watery diarrhea.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Most of the Michigan cases are in Wayne,\u00a0Washtenaw\u00a0and Oakland counties.\u00a0\u00a0Investigators have traced the problem to\u00a0iceburg\u00a0lettuce sold by Taylor Farms\u00a0and distributed to many Taco Bell restaurants.\u00a0\u00a0That lettuce has been recalled.\u00a0\u00a0The parasite is usually spread through food or water contaminated by feces.\u00a0\u00a0The outbreak has spread to several other states.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

WIC benefits can be used online at Meijers<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\n

The state of Michigan says residents who use the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, otherwise known as WIC, can now use their benefits online at Meijers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Beneficiaries could already use those benefits when they shop inside the store.\u00a0\u00a0The state Department of Health and Human Services says the program will be available at all 122 Meijer stores in Michigan.\u00a0\u00a0Officials say they plan to expand the program to other retailers in the future.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Michigan\u2019s WIC program serves more than 187,000\u00a0women,\u00a0infants\u00a0and children each month.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ford\u00a0posts 2Q\u00a0loss<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\n

Ford Motor Company says it lost money from its electric vehicle business in the second quarter of this year.\u00a0\u00a0But the Dearborn automaker is still predicting a more profitable year overall than experts previously expected.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ford officials say the automaker took a net loss\u00a0of\u00a0$1.3 billion\u00a0in the second quarter,\u00a0partially as the\u00a0result of ending a joint electric\u00a0vehicle battery partnership with a South Korean\u00a0company\u00a0and\u00a0stopping other EV related efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But the automaker says customers,\u00a0including those building data centers,\u00a0remain interested in using Ford\u2019s electric batteries to store energy.\u00a0\u00a0Ford earned more than\u00a0$48 billion\u00a0in revenue\u00a0in the second quarter,\u00a0beating Wall Street analysts\u2019\u00a0average expectations.\u00a0\u00a0Officials say there\u2019s still\u00a0strong demand for Ford trucks and\u00a0SUVs,\u00a0despite high fuel prices.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rocket Mortgage\u00a0Classic begins tomorrow<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\n

The Rocket Mortgage Classic has returned to Detroit.\u00a0\u00a0The PGA Tour event will be\u00a0played\u00a0at the Detroit Golf Club Thursday through Sunday.\u00a0\u00a0147 golfers will take part in the tournament.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

This will be the final Rocket Mortgage Classic.\u00a0\u00a0The PGA tour announced earlier this year that it has had trouble attracting top golfers\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0Detroit\u00a0event and will\u00a0discontinue\u00a0the\u00a0classic\u00a0after\u00a0this year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0tournament will be\u00a0nationally-televised\u00a0Saturday and Sunday\u00a0on CBS.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lions\u00a0training camp underway<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h3>\n

The Detroit Lions\u00a0have begun their training camp.\u00a0\u00a0Players are gathered at the team\u2019s Allen Park facility to begin preparing for the 2026 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Lions missed the playoffs last year with a record of 9 wins and 8 losses but hope to make it back to the post-season this year.\u00a0\u00a0The team has a new offensive coordinator,\u00a0Drew Petzing,\u00a0who previously worked for the Arizona Cardinals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Safeties Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch\u00a0are\u00a0not expected\u00a0to take part\u00a0in training camp\u00a0activities.\u00a0\u00a0They\u2019re\u00a0still recovering from injuries that ended their seasons last year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Lions\u00a0first pre-season game takes place August 13\u00a0against the Bengals in Cincinnati.\u00a0\u00a0Detroit\u2019s first regular season game is September 13\u00a0in\u00a0Ford Field against the New Orleans Saints.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n
