The Chicago White Sox acquired right-hander Luis Castillo<\/a> in a trade with the Seattle Mariners for reliever Seranthony Dom\u00ednguez<\/a>, outfielder Nolan Jones<\/a>, and catching prospect Boston Smith, they announced Saturday.<\/p>\n

The White Sox took on all of Castillo’s remaining contract, a source told Alden Gonzalez of ESPN<\/a>. The 33-year-old is owed around $7.25 million for the rest of 2026, will earn $22.75 million in 2027, and has a $25-million vesting option for 2028 if he accumulates 180 innings.<\/p>\n

Castillo owns a 5.06 ERA with 7.8 K\/9 over 99 2\/3 innings (17 starts) this season. He’s authored a career 3.65 ERA with 1.19 WHIP and 9.4 K\/9 with the Mariners and Cincinnati Reds across 10 years.<\/p>\n

The three-time All-Star joins a White Sox rotation that includes breakout starters Davis Martin<\/a> and Sean Burke<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dom\u00ednguez posted a 4.10 ERA with 10.8 K\/9 and 12 saves over 42 appearances with the White Sox after signing a two-year, $20-million contract in the offseason. The right-hander is still owed $10 million next year and has a $2-million buyout on a $12-million option for 2028.<\/p>\n

Jones hasn’t played in the majors this season. His best year came in 2023, when he went deep 20 times with 20 stolen bases and a .931 OPS in 106 contests to finish fourth in NL Rookie of the Year voting with the Colorado Rockies.<\/p>\n

Smith was the 15th-ranked prospect in Chicago’s minor-league system, according to MLB Pipeline<\/a>. The 23-year-old has 22 homers with 58 RBIs and a 1.037 OPS over 78 games between three levels in 2026.<\/p>\n
