{"id":15257061,"date":"2026-08-16T09:53:55","date_gmt":"2026-08-16T13:53:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inthacity.com\/news\/hottest-stretch-of-the-summer-this-week\/"},"modified":"2026-08-16T10:33:38","modified_gmt":"2026-08-16T14:33:38","slug":"hottest-stretch-of-the-summer-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inthacity.com\/news\/hottest-stretch-of-the-summer-this-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Hottest Stretch of the Summer this Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re beyond the dog days of summer but the summer heat is still on and will be on in a big way this week in South Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With several days forecast to have highs in the mid to upper 90s, this week will likely be the hottest of this year&#8217;s summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">High temperatures will be the most extreme early to mid week with record heat probable at least on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Miami &#8212; as well as other parts of the area.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/1_da07f2.png?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1745553\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reason? A large heat dome over the deep South, producing and trapping lots of heat across the greater region while winds flow out of the west and northwest wind direction.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/1_c45264.png?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1745550\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For east coast locations of South Florida, this is usually our most favorable setup for extreme heat.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/1_b8febb.png?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1745555\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The heat will be on including this Sunday with a Heat Advisory in effect from 11AM-7PM, so stay hydrated and try to stay inside with the A\/C or under the shade during the midday and afternoon hours.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/1_c6fff7.png?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1745556\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sunday will be another rain-free day with an uncommon, near-zero-percent chance for rain. That will come with plenty of hazy sunshine due to Saharan dust.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/1_634cea.png?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1745557\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That dust will linger through at least early week, keeping skies hazy but also mostly clear of clouds and any rain.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/08\/1_17732d.png?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1745558\" \/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the back half of the week, the heat dome will start to break down, allowing for temperatures to simmer down by a few degrees. It will still be hot and above average, just not as hot as Tuesday &#8212; our hottest day forecasted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps, some isolated, pop-up showers and storms return by
