Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty<\/a> is believed to have suffered a sprained ankle and the organization doesn’t think the injury is long term, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A clear recovery timeline is unknown to this point. <\/p>\n

Jeanty was helped off the field at Sunday’s practice and couldn’t put any pressure on his right leg, prompting concerns that he sustained a catastrophic injury. Raiders players and coaches took a knee as the second-year rusher left the field.<\/p>\n

The injury apparently occurred when Jeanty ran a route and dove to catch an underthrown pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jeanty was selected sixth overall in the 2025 draft after shining in his final season at Boise State. He suited up in all 17 games as a rookie, rushing for 975 yards and five touchdowns on 266 carries. He also recorded 55 catches for 346 yards and five scores as a pass-catcher.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old was held back by a poor Raiders offensive line last season, as he led all qualifying running backs in percentage of carries that resulted in zero or negative yards (26.7%), according to TruMedia.<\/p>\n

Mike Washington Jr.<\/a>, whom the Raiders selected in the fourth round of the 2026 draft out of Arkansas, took the rest of the Raiders’ first-team running back snaps at Sunday’s practice. Washington rushed for 56 yards on nine carries in Las Vegas’ second preseason contest against the Houston Texans.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
