Sens' Chabot 'out for a while' after Miller cross-check

Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot will be “out for a while” after sustaining a right arm injury, head coach Travis Green said after the team’s 2-1 win against the New York Rangers.

Chabot exited in the dying seconds of the first period after being cross-checked by Rangers captain J.T. Miller.

There was no penalty on the play.

The Senators have been without star defenseman Jake Sanderson since March 7 due to an upper-body injury. Ottawa is also missing blue-liners Nick Jensen and Dennis Gilbert due to injuries, and recent call-up Lassi Thomson exited against the Rangers as well with a lower-body injury.

Chabot has seven goals and 31 points in 54 games this season. He’s averaged over 28 minutes of ice time in seven games since Sanderson left the lineup.

The 29-year-old has already missed 13 games this season.

Ottawa is two points out of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
