Report: Grizzlies to buy out or trade D-Lo

The Memphis Grizzlies are expected to buy out or trade D’Angelo Russell at some point this offseason, sources told Yahoo Sports’ Kelly Iko.

Memphis acquired the veteran guard from the Washington Wizards as part of a six-team, 11-player trade earlier in July.

Russell began the previous campaign with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 10.2 points and shooting a career-low 29.5% from deep across 26 appearances.

The Ohio State product was dealt to the Wizards last February as part of the Anthony Davis trade. However, he never made a single appearance for Washington.

The Los Angeles Lakers selected Russell with the No. 2 overall pick in 2015.

Russell’s best season came in 2018-19 with the Brooklyn Nets, when he tallied 21.1 points per contest and earned his lone All-Star selection.

The 30-year-old has also played for the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves during his NBA career.
