ACSO asks for help solving 18-year-old cold case

(KRON) – The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office asks for assistance in an 18-year-old cold case. 

Gary Wayne Jones was fatally shot while he was buying gas at ABE gas station in the intersection of Mission and Lewelling boulevards in Hayward on June 28, 2007. Investigators believe Jones was also robbed.

The suspect, according to authorities, was described as a Hispanic man who may have been around 17 to 20 years old. The suspect was described as being around 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall. The suspect was also described as having long and dark hair.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect was driving a silver early 1990s Dodge or Plymouth minivan with tinted rear windows and a luggage rack on the roof.
