Angel Reese Sends Clear Message to WNBA About CBA Negotiations

The WNBA and its players are currently in the process of negotiating a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and Chicago Sky star Angel Reese touched on the subject on Friday.

The league and union met on Thursday, with over 40 players attending the meeting in Indianapolis, including Reese, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers.

However, after a few hours of talks in what was the first meeting between the two sides since December, there was no resolution.

With players in town for the WNBA All-Star Game this weekend, also, Reese met with the media and was asked about the topic.

“It’s bigger than me,” Reese said, per Meghan L. Hall of For The Win. “We’re not gonna stop until we get what we want, and yesterday’s meeting really woke me up to the eyes of we aren’t getting what we deserve.”

Reese has been one of the more outspoken critics of pay in the WNBA and has even stated players could sit out if they don’t get what they want in negotiations.

“If y’all don’t give us what we want, we sitting out,” Reese said in an episode of her Unapologetically Angel podcast earlier this year.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Joe Lago, WNBA salaries range from a minimum of $66,000 per year to a maximum of $250,000.

Reese in particular will average about $81,000 per year over the course of her four-year contract, per Spotrac. Meanwhile, the league’s biggest star, Caitlin Clark, averages around $84,514.
