July 17, 2025, will be known as ColdplayGate.
On that day, a video surfaced of now-former Astronmer CEO Andy Byron and his co-worker Kristin Cabot being caught on the Kiss Cam at a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts.
Their reaction seemingly gave everything away, and the following days were filled with reactions from all around the internet.
That ended up leading both Cabot and Byron to resign from the company.
Now, on Friday night, Astronomer dropped a new advertisement. However, in an interesting wrinkle, the spokesperson was Gwyneth Paltrow, the famous actor and ex-wife of Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin.
“Thank you for your interest in Astronomer,” Paltrow said to begin the video. “I’ve been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300+ employees at Astronomer. Astronomer’s gotten a lot of questions over the last few days and they wanted me to answer the most common ones.”

The questions Paltrow answered weren’t the ones being typed on the screen, which makes the video even more perfect from Astronomer.
As of Friday night, the video had registered over 2.5 million views in just four hours, so it’s making waves across the internet.
Martin was leading the Kiss Cam efforts during the show when Byron and Cabot were put on it. After, Martin said, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” followed by “Holy (expletive). I hope we didn’t do something bad.”
The fallout from the video has been endless, with companies such as Chipotle and Netflix joining in on the fun with some responses.
Paltrow and Martin officially split in 2014, so it has been over a decade. They got married in 2003, and the divorce was finalized in 2015.
But, nobody saw Astronomer hiring Paltrow to answer questions about the company (and not the situation).
