Cowboys’ Tyler Smith: Expectation is to be Super Bowl champions

Daniel Valente

Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Smith has his eyes set on capturing the Lombardi Trophy.

“Super Bowl champions,” Smith said of his goals for this upcoming season, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer. “That’s always the expectation.”

“I think it’s a realistic goal, yeah,” Smith added. “Because we can win a Super Bowl. Why not? Why can’t we win?”

It’s been 29 seasons since the Cowboys last won a Super Bowl. Their Super Bowl victory to cap the 1995 season also marked their last conference title game appearance. The 29-season drought without a conference title game appearance is the third longest in the NFL currently, only trailing the Cleveland Browns (32 seasons) and Miami Dolphins (32 seasons).

Dallas missed the playoffs last season and have won only one of their four playoff games since 2021.

Despite the franchise’s lack of recent success in the postseason, Smith says the team has built a “great core” on offense, citing additions like wide receiver George Pickens and first-round offensive lineman Tyler Booker.

The Cowboys enter 2025 with first-time head coach Brian Schottenheimer patrolling the sideline.
