In what the photographer Tony Powell called “the best-kept wedding secret of the year,” philanthropist, Baltimore Orioles owner, and Carlyle Group co-founder David Rubenstein and Caryn Zucker married in a surprise wedding on Friday.
According to Axios, Rubenstein and Zucker were officially wed—after four and a half years together—by Chief Justice John Roberts at the Supreme Court on Friday morning, followed by a religious ceremony officiated by Rabbi Stuart Weinblatt at the Sixth & I synagogue, and celebrated with an intimate lunch with their families on the rooftop at the Hay-Adams.
Per Powell’s Instagram post, while the day had been booked in advance, Powell wasn’t told the occasion was a wedding until 15 minutes before it started.
From the photos, it appears the groom wore a navy pin-stripe suit with a light blue tie, while the bride donned a cream dress (we suspect the Staud “Amelie”)—with a striking oval engagement ring—and carried a bouquet of white ranunculus
