Dubas squashes Crosby trade rumors

The Pittsburgh Penguins have no intention of trading Sidney Crosby despite rumors suggesting otherwise Friday.

“There’s no change at all to anything from our perspective,” Penguins president of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas said, according to NHL.com’s Wes Crosby. “Everything that we’re doing is about bringing the team back to being a contending team and our hope is to sure do that while Sid is a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.”

Speculation circulated earlier Friday that Crosby could be dealt to the Colorado Avalanche. His agent Pat Brisson described the chatter as “baseless rumors,” per The Athletic’s Rob Rossi.

Avalanche star and Crosby’s good friend Nathan MacKinnon also stated it was “fake news.”

Crosby is set to enter the first season of a two-year extension in 2025-26. His contract includes a full no-movement clause and he’s said that he’d like to finish his career in Pittsburgh.

Even at age 37, Crosby remained highly productive with 91 points in 80 games this season. However, the Penguins missed the playoffs for the third straight year.
