The Calgary Flames signed restricted free-agent defenseman Kevin Bahl to a six-year contract extension worth $5.35 million per season, the team announced Saturday.

Bahl, 25, was part of the return from the New Jersey Devils in the Jacob Markstrom trade. He notched a career-high 20 points this past season while averaging more than 21 minutes per contest.

He was a second-round pick of the Arizona Coyotes in 2018.

The Flames locked up fellow RFA Matt Coronato to a seven-year contract in May. Connor Zary and Morgan Frost are their most prominent players still in need of a contract with Bahl signed. The Flames have approximately $19 million in cap space.

Calgary had 96 points in 2024-25, missing out on a playoff berth due to tiebreaker scenarios with the St. Louis Blues.
