Fort Bragg woman and man stabbed by woman’s son during family dispute

Bay City News

(BCN) — A Fort Bragg man and a woman were stabbed by the woman’s son during a family argument on Thursday evening, according to police.

The stabbing was reported at 11:04 p.m. Thursday by a citizen who flagged down an officer at Safeway, according to the Fort Bragg Police Department. The citizen told police that the woman who was stabbed was his neighbor, and that he saw both the woman and the man transported to a hospital.

The woman was transferred from the Adventist Health Mendocino Coast hospital to a trauma center. The hospital is unable to provide further information about either of the victims.

When officers arrived at Adventist Health Mendocino Coast, they spoke with the two victims, who initially denied the stabbing and said they had been in an ATV accident. After officers noted inconsistencies in their story, the man changed his statement and said both he and the woman had been stabbed by her son, Danynes Cox-Pabo, 32, of Fort Bragg.

Peninsula hit by rash of residential burglaries

Around 1:45 a.m., Mendocino County sheriff’s deputies found Cox-Pabo in the 100 block of West Oak Street. He was detained and found in possession of a folding pocketknife.

The Fort Bragg Police Department interviewed Cox-Pabo, who admitted to stabbing both victims during a family altercation. After reviewing the evidence, authorities booked Cox-Pabo into Mendocino County Jail.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact Officer Tyler Baker of the Fort Bragg Police Department at (707) 961-2800, ext. 226.
