PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Pittsfield fire crews were called to an apartment fire back on June 21st on John Street.

The Pittsfield Fire Department states that crews were sent to 24-26 John Street for a report of a building fire. Occupants reported that a fire was in a first-floor apartment on the 24 John Street side of the building.
When crews entered the apartment, a heavy fire was found in the living room. Black smoke was seen coming from the second floor of the building.
It took crews 40 minutes to put out the fire, with no injuries reported. Eversource and Berkshire Gas were called in to secure utilities to the home. Four occupants were left without a home and were assisted by the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Pittsfield Fire Department’s investigation Unit, the Pittsfield Police Department’s Investigation Unit, and investigators from the State Fire Marshalls Office.
