SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A fundraising event in Springfield helped to raise money for the painting of murals in the city this summer.
Commonwealth Murals hosted its second annual “Paint the Town” at White lion Brewery. It featured not only a DJ and food but also the chance to help paint the next mural that will be installed later this year in Indian Orchard. They’re also looking to install additional murals in the mason square and south end neighborhoods.
“I feel like they can connect to them, especially when they’re able to put their own stories and input into it. People are able to connect and we get kids involved. And so kids growing up and then see, yeah, their stories and that their impact matters,” said Administrative Coordinator for Commonwealth Murals.
Five murals will also be placed in Springfield High Schools that were designed and painted by students during the school year. Common Wealth Murals has created 80 murals in the city of Springfield.
