“It’s been highly anticipated since the mall closed,” said Darryl Randolph, a local resident. “That lot has been a graveyard, so hopefully we can resurrect the mall and have something new.”
Marc Warnock, another Springfield resident, expressed excitement about the new BJ’s location, saying, “My wife already bought a subscription; she’s ready to go.”
According to developers, Springfield Crossing will open in phases, with the first phase expected to cost more than $75 million.
BJ’s is breaking ground on its first new location in the state in 13 years, marking a significant development for the area.
While at least seven stores are expected to open this fall, the exact lineup remains unclear.
