WAREHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Authorities shared that a man in Wareham died overnight from a fireworks-related explosion.
The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services shared that fire investigators with the Massachusetts State Police and bomb technicians assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted Wareham crews at a fireworks incident Friday night.
Basement fire leaves two without home in Springfield
During the incident, a 70-year-old man passed away. The man has not been publicly identified at this time. The Wareham Police and Fire Departments, as well as members of District Attorney Tim Cruz’s office, were also present at the explosion.
The Department of Fire Services stated that illegal fireworks have caused over 200 serious injuries and over 500 fires and explosions in the state over the past five years. The department is reminding the public to leave fireworks to licensed professionals for the safety of yourself and your loved ones.
