Misiorowski strikes out 15 during 1-hit, 95-pitch shutout

He’s the Miz – and nobody beats him.

Jacob Misiorowski reached yet another new height Friday, striking out 15 batters on just one hit to record his first career shutout in the Milwaukee Brewers’ 6-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Misiorowski faced the minimum on just 95 pitches, a record for the fewest in a shutout since pitch counts were first tracked in 1988, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. A Kyle Schwarber fourth-inning single was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect line.

He finished the masterpiece with a flourish, striking out Justin Crawford on a 103-mph fastball. It was his 12th K on a triple-digit pitch, the most in the pitch-tracking era (since 2008), according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com.

Of Misiorowski’s 95 pitches, 58 were clocked at 100 mph or higher, according to Paul Casella of MLB.com. Among them was a 105-mph fastball to strike out leadoff batter Kyle Schwarber – the fastest pitch ever clocked by a non-opener starting pitcher.

“To be honest, the first few innings, I feel like I didn’t have it (my best stuff) all that well,” he told reporters postgame, including McCalvy. “I was just hoping they would swing, and they were hacking away, so that helped a lot.”

The 15 Ks are a new franchise record for strikeouts in a shutout. Misiorowski’s just the third Brewers pitcher to strike out 15 or more in a game, joining Corbin Burnes (15 in 2021) and Ben Sheets, who fanned a team-record 18 on May 16, 2004. He also tied the modern-era record for most Ks while facing the minimum, joining the Baltimore Orioles’ Érik Bédard in 2007, per Langs.

Additionally, Misiorowski’s now the only pitcher in the modern era to strike out at least 15 and allow one or fewer hits while facing the minimum 27 batters in a shutout, according to OptaStats.

The outing made Misiorowski the 17th pitcher since 1901 to record a game score of 100 or better in a nine-inning game, per Stathead. His game score came in at an even 100; only seven pitchers have finished with a higher mark.

Misiorowski’s gem also occurred on the one-year anniversary of his big-league debut, continuing a dominant run for the 24-year-old, who has allowed just one earned run over his last eight outings.

Misiorowski, who’s limiting opponents to a .140 average in 2026, now owns an MLB-best 1.34 ERA and 0.74 WHIP along with 131 strikeouts.
