CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The NFL preseason kicks off Thursday night football on 22News.
Football season is back as the Los Angeles Chargers take on the Detroit Lions from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, for the first preseason game of the year. Los Angeles went 11-6 in its first season under head coach Jim Harbaugh. Detroit comes off its best season, going 15-2 to secure a second-straight playoff position.

Football Night in America begins at 7 p.m. on 22News with expert analysts discussing highlights from earlier games and the top stories in the NFL. Preseason kickoff begins at 8:20 p.m. Watch live on 22News, NBC Sports, and NFL on Peacock.
There are four weeks of preseason games. The New England Patriots are scheduled to begin their preseason game on Friday, August 8th, against the Commanders at 7:30 p.m.
The season starts on September 4th as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Super Bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles.
