Global pop sensation Taylor Swift has been around the NFL for a couple of years now after she began dating Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce during the early part of the 2023 season. But even though her presence has been normalized a bit around the league, some players still get starstruck.
During a recent radio interview on “The Sweet Spot” on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 The Ticket (KTCK-AM), Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson opened up a little bit about a time when he met Taylor Swift earlier this summer.
Ferguson recalled meeting the pop sensation alongside his fiancée, college basketball star and social media influencer Haley Cavinder.
The two got the opportunity to meet Taylor at a celebratory concert at Travis Kelce and George Kittle’s Tight End University summer camp back in June.
Needless to say, Ferguson was a little bit starstruck, sending a six-word message on the meeting with the pop sensation: “I still haven’t washed my hand.”
“I shook her hand,” Ferguson said on the show, via The Dallas Morning News. “I still haven’t washed my hand.”
Swift is obviously one of the most famous and recognizable individuals on the planet, but Ferguson was struck by the fact that she was so down-to-earth and “normal.”
“She’s so normal,” Ferguson explained. “She met my fiancée, my fiancée was like, ‘She’s so nice!’ Not that I was expecting anything different, but like, she knew football. She was talking like, ‘We [the Chiefs] got a big game at Cowboys this year!’”
The Kansas City Chiefs are indeed set to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington this upcoming season in a highly anticipated Thanksgiving Day matchup.
Given Swift’s excitement about the matchup and her tendency to support Kelce from the stands, there’s a good chance she will be in attendance for the matchup.
