(KRON) — One of San Francisco’s most diverse neighborhoods is having its first-ever night market starting next month. According to a press release by Excelsior Action Group, the “From the E” night market is launching in the city’s Excelsior District on Thursday, July 11.

The night market will be held on the parking lot between Norton and Harrington streets from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event is for all ages and free, but the public can RSVP to attend. Those who do so will be eligible to win a pack of gift certificates for local businesses worth up to $200, event organizers said.

The Excelsior night market will even feature a Lucha Libre wrestling show with a full-sized ring, the release states. There will be local food vendors, a live DJ, bands and cultural dance performances — along with arts and crafts booths.

“From the E night market will bring the Excelsior community alive and celebrate the
neighborhood’s rich culture and strong sense of community,” San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie said in a news release. “Across our city, night markets are building community, supporting local businesses, and bringing joy, life, and vibrancy back to our neighborhoods.”

San Francisco favorite Excelsior Coffee is one of the local businesses looking to get a boost with this community night market.

“The Excelsior Night Market is a chance to celebrate the cultures that make our
neighborhood special,” Excelsior Coffee owner Lea Sabado said. “It brings people out to experience our local food, music, and art—and that support means everything for small businesses like mine.”

July 11 will be the first of several once-a-month night markets in the Excelsior District. Every month until this December, “From the E” will host a night market at the same parking lot. The next night market will be on Saturday, Aug. 2. For dates of each month’s night market, check out the night market’s website.

Event organizers have not released the full list of vendors slated to be at the Excelsior night market.

The Excelsior District is known to be a melting pot of many cultures from Chinese, Filipino, Salvadoran, Mexican and many more, according to the release. “From the E” night market is currently accepting applications for vendors and performers.

“From the E” adds to several highly praised night markets in the city. San Francisco is home to five of the best night markets in the country, according to a recent list by USA Today.
