PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Pittsfield man has been arrested in connection with a structure fire on Fourth Street early Tuesday morning.

Pittsfield Police Lieutenant John Soules stated in a news release that at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Tuesday, officers and firefighters were called to a two-family home on Fourth Street for reports of a fire. While all occupants were able to safely evacuate, a family cat was found to have died.
During the investigation, Pittsfield police identified a suspect in connection with the fire. Officers located and arrested 23-year-old Hunter Barrett and charged him with Arson of a Dwelling.
Barrett is scheduled to be arraigned in Berkshire District Court on Wednesday. The Pittsfield Police Department, Pittsfield Fire Department, and Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigation Team are continuing to investigate the incident.
