Report: Chargers’ 2nd-round rookie Harris holding out of training camp

Caio Miari

Los Angeles Chargers rookies reported for training camp Saturday, but L.A.’s group of first-year players is missing one of its top names.

Second-round receiver Tre Harris is holding out, as he remains unsigned due to a disagreement over guaranteed money on his first NFL contract, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The majority of this year’s draft picks have already signed their four-year rookie contracts, but most Round 2 selections notably remain unsigned.

In May, Houston Texans receiver Jayden Higgins signed the first-ever fully guaranteed rookie contract for a second-rounder, which has affected how other Round 2 choices negotiate their deals. Cleveland Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger, who also inked a fully guaranteed pact, is the only other second-round pick signed so far.

The Chargers drafted Harris 55th overall in April after the wideout spent his last two college football seasons at Ole Miss. The 23-year-old caught 60 passes for a career-high 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024.
