SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police arrested a suspect in connection with a double shooting on July 11th that resulted in the death of 54-year-old Eric Wilson.
Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh states that on Friday, July 11th, at around 10:30 p.m., officers were sent to an apartment on the 200 block of Orange Street for a report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds inside the apartment.

Both men were taken to Baystate Medical Center. Eric Wilson, 54, of Springfield, had serious injuries, which led to his death two days later. The second man is expected to recover.
During the investigation, detectives with the homicide unit identified 32-year-old Sakawn Straw of Springfield as a suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Thursday at around 6 a.m. Straw was arrested at a home on Revere Street and charged with the following:
- Arrest Warrant
- Murder
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
