The and Ian Brennan’s TV miniseries Hollywood, having previously worked with the superproducer on two seasons of The Politician.

Before that, you might have spotted David in single episodes of House Of Cards and Elementary, before he landed roles in the likes of the disaster movie Twisters and the cult slasher Pearl.

Superman is undoubtedly David’s biggest role to date, which will undoubtedly set him up for more leading roles in the future.

Starring as Clark Kent’s love interest Lois Lane is Rachel Brosnahan, the US actor best known for her role as “Midge” Maisel in the Emmy-winning series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Rachel has also appeared in Patriots Day, The Finest Hours, Beautiful Creatures, House Of Cards, The Amateur and the TV series Manhattan.

You might also recognise her from single episodes of Gossip Girl, The Good Wife, Grey’s Anatomy, Orange Is The New Black and In Treatment.

Nicolas Hoult plays supervillain Lex Luthor in the new blockbuster, but he got his start in a very different kind of film, playing Marcus Brewer in About A Boy opposite Hugh Grant as a child actor.

He went on to play Nicolas Cage’s son in The Weather Man, and later became known in his teen years as Tony Stonem, the main character in the first two seasons of Skins.

The British actor was later cast as Beast in the X-Men franchise, and has been in movies like Warm Bodies, Jack The Giant Slayer, Mad Max: Fury Road, Juror #2 and Nosferatu.

Milly Alcock has been slowly moving into the spotlight these past few years after playing a young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon, a role she shared with Emma D’Arcy.

The Australian performer was more recently cast as one of the leads in Netflix’s Sirens alongside Julianne Moore and Meghann Fahy.

Her appearance in Superman marks her debut as Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman, ahead of her own starring role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is due out some time in 2026.

Nathan Fillion

Starring as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern in the new movie, Nathan is best known for his recurring TV roles on Firefly, Castle and The Rookie.

His memorable movie credits, meanwhile, include Serenity and James Gunn’s 2006 monster movie Sliter.

Nathan is also a big name in the voice world, having previously voiced Hal Jordan/ Green Lantern in a number of animated films (as well as a memorable performance as himself in Netflix’s Big Mouth).

Isabela Merced

Isabela Merced is definitely having a moment after recently debuting as Dina in season two of The Last Of Us.

She joins the Superman universe as Hawgirl, having previously appeared in blockbusters like Transformers: The Last Knight, Sicario 2: Soldado and Alien: Romulus along with films Instant Family and a leading role in Dora And The Lost City Of Gold.

Edi stars as Mister Terrific in Superman, but all of us Twi-hards will remember him as Laurent in the Twilight saga.

Vampires aside, he’s also appeared in plenty of recurring TV roles on House, The Blacklist, StartUp, For All Mankind and more.

His notable film roles include Princess Of The Row, Gone Baby Gone and X-Men: First Class.

Superman is in cinemas now.
