Mike Moraitis

Wondering which airline you should target for your next trip? A recent customer satisfaction survey provides the answer.

J.D. Power did a customer satisfaction survey that named the top three airlines in different categories based on passenger satisfaction with first/business class, premium economy and economy/basic seating.

For the first/business class, JetBlue reigned supreme with a score of 738, followed by Delta Air Lines (724) and Alaska Air Lines (709).

For premium economy customers, Delta Air Lines came in at No. 1 with a score of 717. Rounding out the top three were JetBlue (699) and Alaska Air Lines (691).

When it comes to regular old economy class, Southwest Airlines picked up the top spot with a 694, marking the second straight year the company has chosen No. 1. Behind Southwest was JetBlue (663) and Delta (662).

J.D. Power adds that customer satisfaction with North American airlines overall is up six points from 2024, and there was an eight-point increase with economy/basic economy class passengers.

However, things went in the opposite direction for premium economy and first/business class, which saw a decline in satisfaction by seven points and one point, respectively.

The study also revealed that airline staff was “crucial to passenger satisfaction,” and less than 10% of passengers actually experienced problems with their flights.

“The North America Airline Satisfaction Study measures passenger satisfaction with airline carriers in North America based on performance in seven core dimensions on a poor-to-perfect 6-point rating scale,” J.D. Power said of its study.

“Individual dimensions measured are (in alphabetical order): airline staff; digital tools; ease of travel; level of trust; on-board experience; pre/post-flight experience; and value for price paid. The study measures passenger satisfaction in three segments—first/business; premium economy, and economy/basic economy,” J.D. Power added.

J.D. Power’s study took into account responses from 10,224 passengers who flew on a major North American airline within the past month of completing a survey.

The study ran from March 2024 to March 2025.
