In celebration of National Sandwich Month, which takes place in August, Yelp has just released the list of its Top 100 Sandwich Shops. And let’s just say that the competition has us eager to get our hands on a turkey club with extra bacon ASAP.
To create the coveted list, Yelp took into consideration a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews. And while they calculated their way to uncovering the best sandos in the country, they also discovered quite a few trends among sandwich lovers in the U.S.

One intriguing discovery is that now more than ever sandwiches that may have solely been available in a certain region—take for instance Philly cheesesteak sandwiches—can now be found in all parts of the country. Additionally, veggie sandwiches, along with sandwiches made using gluten-free bread and other gluten-free ingredients, are really having a moment.

Don’t fret, meat lovers. Sandwiches stuffed with turkey, steak, tuna and other savory meats still reign supreme, and that’s especially the case at Yelp’s Top Sandwich Shop. That honor goes to Franky’s Deli Warehouse in Hialeah, Florida where you’ll find them slinging everything from their Famous Italian to their fan-favorite Tuna Sandwich.
“For more than 25 years, Franky and Nanette Diaz have been greeting their regulars while preparing made-to-order best-sellers like their Famous Italian, packed with ham, capicola, salami, and provolone. ‘It’s sweet, salty, and zesty,’ Nanette says. ‘Ninety-nine percent of customers order it hot, and the grill just meshes all the meats together,'” read a description on the Yelp website.
Other restaurants to break into the top five on Yelp’s Top 100 Sandwich Shops list include Sierra Subs and Salads (Three Rivers, California), Tony’s Beechhurst Deli (Whitestone, New York), Tony’s Italian Delicatessen (Montgomery, Texas) and Woods Deli (Huntington Park, California).
