For riding in hot weather, mesh motorcycle apparel is invaluable. Thousands of tiny holes in the outer fabric allow air to flow in through the front and out through the back, drawing body heat and perspiration to the outside. Mesh motorcycle jackets have become even more important to me since I began wearing an under-jacket airbag vest which, due to its air bladders, doesn’t permit much airflow to the torso.
For my recent test of the new Can-Am Canyon Redrock, I knew I’d be exerting myself on unpaved roads on a warm, dry day in Arizona, and then I’d be crossing the Mojave Desert on my ride home to California. The Tourmaster Adventure Lite Mesh Motorcycle Jacket and Pants were just what I needed.
This jacket-and-pants combo is lightweight, durable, and flexible for off-road riding and touring. It features a polyester mesh shell that’s reinforced with abrasion-resistant 420-denier polyester overlays and ultra-abrasion-resistant yet flexible laminate on the shoulders, elbows, and knees. There is thin, flexible, removable Armanox CE Level 1 armor at the back, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. The jacket has zip-off sleeves, but since I wore this gear while riding at speed on paved and unpaved roads, I left them on.
What I really like about this Adventure Lite Mesh apparel is how lightweight it is. It fits well and offers ample freedom of movement, but it never feels bulky or heavy. There are no waterproof or quilted liners, so you’ll need to pack standalone raingear or thermal layers to deal with variable weather conditions.
The jacket and pants have various fit adjusters, reflective striping, and plenty of pockets. On the jacket, there are four front pockets, two interior pockets (including a waterproof smartphone pocket), and a large rear cargo pocket (good for carrying a lightweight rain jacket or a baselayer). The pants have two large cargo pockets. The pants also have leather reinforcements on the inner knees and an interior silicone waistband keeps shirts securely tucked in.
Two features left me wanting. The jacket’s shoulder armor pockets attach to the interior lining via hook-and-loop, and the pockets easily get twisted around with the armor folded over when putting the jacket on. With care and practice, I learned how to avoid this problem. The pants fasten at the waist by rotating a reel knob that tightens two wires, which is more finicky than a ratcheting quick-release buckle.

Overall, I found the Tourmaster Adventure Lite Mesh Motorcycle Jacket and Pants to be comfortable, practical, and versatile for my adventure-touring needs, and it’s a good value. The jacket is available in black or gray in sizes S-3XL for $199.99, and the pants are available in black in sizes 30-44 for $189.99. Non-mesh versions of both are available for $10 more, and everything is covered by a four-year warranty.
