(KRON) – A San Francisco pizzeria is transitioning into a new venture, causing the pizza shop to close. Shuggie’s Trash Pie + Natural Wine has announced on its social media that the pizzeria aspect of Shuggie’s will close its doors soon.
Shuggie’s Trash Pie uses ingredients that would go to waste, irregular or surplus produce, byproducts from food manufacturing, lower-on-the-food-chain seafood and offcuts from the meat industry, per its website.
“We’re so thrilled to have had 3.5 years of this iteration of Shuggie’s. Pizza has been such a fun, accessible way to introduce the world to the idea of an upcycled restaurant,” the restaurant posted on its Instagram.

The eatery said the dining scene and the company have changed. Despite the pizzeria closing, Shuggie’s Trash Pie + Natural Wine said the company has other plans.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring you Shuggie’s 2.0 in late August—new look, new menu, and somehow, even more wild poppy maximalism. We’ve never been ones to rest on our laurels and settle for less. So we’re ready to buckle up and give you more,” said the pizzashop.
According to Shuggie’s, the pizzeria will close in three weeks, and said, “Come get it before it’s gone!”
Shuggie’s Trash Pie is located at 3349 23rd St.
