Vancouver police said the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on May 15 and several witnesses nearby had to scramble to get out of the way of the suspect’s vehicle.

Police recommended he be detained and the Crown also sought to keep him in custody for an overnight fitness assessment, but a judge released him on Tuesday.
