Key Messages

Today
- Diurnal pattern: today features a classic summer setup with morning stratus, afternoon clearing inland, and evening return of low clouds.

- Coastal moderation: areas near the coast will stay cooler due to persistent stratus.
Search called off for missing swimmer at Aquatic Park
Monday through Saturday:
- Not much change in the extended forecast, with quiet weather and slightly cooler conditions inland through the work week.
- The Four Corners ridging pattern begins to break down today, allowing for troughing over the Eastern Pacific to influence our weather pattern over the next week or so.
- Temperatures will return to near normal by the middle of the week, eventually dropping slightly below normal by the end of the week.
Fire Weather:
For the Pickett Fire: active fire behavior continues, especially in the thermal belts above around 1500’. Conditions remain hot and dry through Sunday night with the thermal belts remaining rather active. A gradual cooling trend will begin to noticeably impact the site on Monday, with cooler temperatures and moister conditions developing through the midweek. Breezy west to southwest winds will develop each afternoon and evening, becoming light and terrain-driven overnight into the morning.
Elsewhere, although a rebuilding marine layer will bring relief to the coastal and inland valley regions, the interior regions and higher elevations, particularly in far eastern Contra Costa County and northeastern Napa County, remain hot and dry today. Breezy onshore winds in the afternoon and evening could gust up to 20 to 30 miles per hour through favored gaps and passes and atop the ridgelines, leading to locally elevated fire weather conditions today.
