Report: Angels' Trout heading to IL amid bounce-back season

The Los Angeles Angels are placing superstar outfielder Mike Trout on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring injury, sources told The Athletic’s Sam Blum and Ken Rosenthal.

The 11-time All-Star is in the midst of a bounce-back campaign after missing more than 200 games over the past three seasons. The 34-year-old is hitting .234/.394/.472 with 17 homers and an AL-leading 54 runs scored in 74 contests.

Trout appeared in 130 games last year, marking his first time playing more than 120 contests since 2019. A three-time MVP, Trout has garnered downballot MVP consideration only once since 2020.

The Angels are expected to call up outfielder Christian Moore to fill Trout’s roster spot. Moore is hitting .333/.468/.585 with nine home runs and 10 stolen bases over 51 games in Triple-A Salt Lake this year. The 23-year-old made his major-league debut last year, posting a .655 OPS in 53 contests.
