Officials in British Columbia have their eyes on the skies as dry lightning strikes are listed as the probable cause of several new wildfires across the southern Interior.
Every exit was blocked off with pylons, including entrances to local businesses, with some staffed by security guards to prevent people from pulling off the road.
Strong winds and dry thunderstorms are expected to worsen wildfire conditions across southern B.C this long weekend, as more than 1,800 properties remain under evacuation orders.
