Bulls rookie Wilson to sit out Summer League finale

Chicago Bulls rookie Caleb Wilson won’t play in the club’s final Summer League matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team announced Thursday.

Wilson capped his first stint in a Bulls uniform earlier Thursday with a 21-point, eight-rebound performance versus the Los Angeles Lakers.

The fourth overall pick in this year’s draft averaged 23.5 points on 50% shooting – including a 42% clip from deep – to go along with 7.3 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 1.3 steals over four appearances in Las Vegas.

Wilson was a consensus second-team All-American, All-ACC first-team selection, and ACC All-Rookie team member during his lone collegiate campaign at North Carolina.

The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 boards, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks across 24 games for the Tar Heels. His freshman year was cut short after suffering a broken thumb during a practice in March.

Wilson was a McDonald’s All-American and the fifth-ranked recruit on the ESPN 100 coming out of high school.
