Gonzaga reportedly shocked by Saint-Supery's move to Valencia

Point guard Mario Saint-Supery is returning to his homeland to play for Valencia Basket after one season at Gonzaga, the Spanish club announced Saturday.

Gonzaga was caught off guard by Saint-Supery’s sudden departure, as he practiced with the team less than 24 hours before the news broke, sources told Jeff Goodman of the Field of 68.

The 20-year-old averaged 8.6 points, 3.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals on 40.3% shooting from deep in 23.1 minutes per game across 35 outings in 2025-26. Saint-Supery also started 17 contests with the Bulldogs.

Saint-Supery’s exit marks a setback for Gonzaga amid a busy summer that initially boded well for the program. Former Arizona State forward Massamba Diop and ex-Houston guard Isaiah Harwell joined the Bulldogs via the transfer portal. However, German guard commit Jack Kayil opted to enter the NBA draft, leaving head coach Mark Few’s backcourt threadbare following Saint-Supery’s move.

Saint-Supery made his debut for the Spanish senior men’s team during a EuroBasket 2025 qualifier against Slovakia.
