Letters: Carney’s pipeline gambit a shell game

What a pragmatic column by Lorne Gunter (Oil Clock Ticking June 11). What exactly has been done to get a pipeline to the coast? He rightfully states that other than smiles and handshakes and promised timelines, there’s nothing concrete at this time. I know that Danielle Smith believes that major oil companies will be lining up to build the pipeline the minute that it gets the green light from Carney but the major players didn’t get to be in charge of large companies by being stupid. Until Carney tells B.C.’s Eby that the pipeline is going through regardless and removes other obstructions, aka the tanker ban, companies will keep their money in projects that have a lower risk. I can’t see (all hat and no cattle) Carney playing anything but the shell game. Read More
