People living in and around Hamilton’s east end say their homes have been covered in black soot this week. Soot is not a new concern for people in the area, but Ward 4 councillor Tammy Hwang says this time is different, with people further away being affected.
Daniel Senecal was arrested on Aug. 31, 2025, after police were called to a home in Welland, Ont., for a “medical assistance call involving a child.” The 26-year-old pleaded guilty this week in St. Catharines court to multiple charges.
