LeBron James and ESPN are nearing a deal for a behind-the-scenes documentary series akin to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ “The Last Dance,” sources told The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand.
Talks between the two parties are at the “one-yard line,” and a camera crew is expected to document James’ time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Marchand reports. Archived footage of the four-time Finals MVP obtained by NBA crews earlier in his career will apparently be featured as well.
There’s reportedly no set date for when the documentary would be completed and aired.
However, James’ business manager, Maverick Carter, later refuted the report of a “Last Dance”-style docuseries on social media.

James signed a two-year, $8-million contract with Philadelphia that includes a player option for the second season. However, his agent, Rich Paul, recently teased the possibility of his client playing beyond the deal.
“The Last Dance,” a 10-episode miniseries, chronicles Jordan’s legendary career and the Bulls’ dominance of the 1990s. The documentary won an Emmy Award in 2020.
