Marvel’s New X-Men Might Have Found Their Cyclops

To me, my X-Men!

A new generation of Marvel heroes is taking shape. At its helm, Sadie Sink, and now, with Jean Grey’s love interest rumored to be cast, Kit Connor.

More and more casting rumors keep coming out about Marvel’s reboot of the X-Men franchise. Thursday, Deadlinereported that Marvel Studios has chosen their visor-wearing hero. Kit Connor is expected to play Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops.

Sources told Deadline that Marvel president Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier picked Connor after meeting with several other potential actors. Schreier was tapped to direct the X-Men reboot and also directed Thunderbolts last year.

Representatives for neither Marvel nor Connor have commented at this time.

News of the potential cast for the X-Men reboot started coming out in the last week after the massive success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which introduced Sink as Jean Grey. Sources have also said that Ready or Not star Samara Weaving is the top pick to play Emma Frost. There have also been several rumors that Cailee Spaeny will play Rogue and Charles Melton will play Beast; however, both of those are totally unconfirmed at this time.

For a while there were rumors that Cooper Hoffman would be claiming the part of Scott, but the I Want Your Sex actor shut those rumors down. Hoffman and Connor do share some similarities in their appearance, though, leading one X user to joke, “There is a good chance that the Cooper Hoffman rumours came from someone who thought they were the same person.” Another posted, “Cooper Hoffman as Alex Summers???” Alex Summers is Scott’s younger brother with the superhero alias Havok.

Speaking to Entertainment WeeklySink said, “There’s so many rumors online, but overall, it’s been exciting to see, even if you don’t know what’s true or not, just how much intrigue there is and how much buzz about the movie.”

Scott Summers, or Cyclops, is a founding member of the X-Men in the comics. Often the de facto captain of the mutant team, he is a consistent member of most X-Men media. The character shoots “optic blasts,” which are beams of energy shot out of his eyes. He wears a special visor to help control the power.

James Marsden played Cyclops in the three 2000s X-Men films and then Tye Sheridan in the 2010s. Marsden is confirmed to be reprising his role in Avengers: Doomsday along with Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and a few other reprisals.

Connor is best known for his roles in the Netflix series Heartstopper and as young Elton John in Rocketman. He also works closely with director Alex Garland, who first cast him in the 2025 film Warfare and his upcoming Elden Ring film. Connor’s Heartstopper co-star Joe Locke is already a part of the MCU as Billy Maximoff aka Wiccan.
