Mets' Williams lands on IL with shoulder strain

The New York Mets placed closer Devin Williams on the 15-day injured list Monday with a right shoulder strain, the club announced.

Williams had been dealing with arm fatigue over the last few days.

The two-time All-Star has disappointed in his first season in Queens after joining the Mets on a three-year, $51-million contract.

Williams owns a 4.66 ERA with 16 saves and a career-worst 1.66 WHIP over 42 appearances. His 11.9 K/9 is also his lowest since 2019, his first year in the majors.

New York recalled right-hander Jonathan Pintaro to take Williams’ spot on the active roster.
