Report: Warriors pursuing LeBron, AD to form Big 4

The Golden State Warriors appear to be eyeing some monumental moves in pursuit of another title.

Draymond Green declined his $27.7-million player option Monday, giving Golden State added flexibility to pursue a trade for Anthony Davis and chase LeBron James in free agency, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Green will become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday, but the Warriors could re-sign him after they make other moves to bolster the roster. With Jimmy Butler likely to be a part of any trade involving the acquisition of a max contract, Golden State seems to be taking a run at a Big 4 of superstars in James, Davis, Green, and Stephen Curry.

James, Davis, and Green are represented by Klutch Sports Group, the powerful sports agency headed by Rich Paul.

James, 41, is an unrestricted free agent. The NBA’s all-time scoring leader has spent the past eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won a championship in 2020 with Davis by his side.

James was an All-Star last season and averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds in 60 games.

Davis is on the Washington Wizards’ roster after they acquired him from the Dallas Mavericks in February. The big man didn’t suit up for the Wizards after missing most of the campaign due to ligament damage in his left hand.

The 33-year-old Davis is a 10-time All-Star and one of basketball’s top defensive presences. He’s owed $58.4 million in 2026-27 and also carries a $62.7-million player option for the following year.

The Warriors (37-45) missed the playoffs last season.
